Supporting Community

Detective Ramos Foundation is dedicated to the sustainable growth of individuals, families and communities by nurturing mutual respect and a harmonious police-community relationship based on trust and tolerance. Focused on making a difference in our neighborhoods by improving the lives of children, youth, and families with community activism and direct investments. These would include, but are not limited to-community service projects which create an opportunity for police and our youth to interact, food distribution programs, and food pantries in The Legacy Center located Brooklyn, NY.

Heal communities by forging a lasting bond and mutual respect with law enforcement. We are committed to helping our most impoverished communities, where crime might be more prevalent, by supporting educational programs for the youth, along with events that will involve local law enforcement officers.

Desire to develop a positive relationship between our communities and the law enforcement officers who work in them on a regular basis. People in our communities should expect police officers to “protect and serve” while officers, in turn, should rely on the community’s support and cooperation. Trust needs to be developed and nurtured in order to confront the many challenges faced by both parties. Dialogue breeds understanding which forms the basis for a strong relationship with law enforcement while helping bridge the police-community divide. It’s important that communities understand how vital an officer’s job is, what it entails, and the dangers and fears officers face every day. None more so than the fear of not knowing if they will make it home after their tour, something the Ramos family never wants to see happen again.

Provide assistance for the immediate family members (widows, widowers and dependent children) of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty through fund raising events and scholarship programs. Support families as they are going through the process of rebuilding their lives by, providing helpful resources which will make the painful rebuilding process a bit easier.
